O’Hare’s construction equipment towing team had quite the road trip last week. A client based in Gary, Indiana, had sold his dump truck and needed assistance transporting it to its new owner. The only catch? The buyer was located over 7 hours away in Buffalo, NY!

Not one to turn away from a long-haul tow, the O’Hare team prepped some snacks for the long road trip ahead. Towing a dump truck is no easy feat with the majority of models weighing over 26,000 lb! To facilitate the tow, the construction equipment towing team brought along their RGN trailer. Now, what in the world is an RGN trailer?

RGN stands for removable gooseneck. While many people may classify these trailers under the lowboy category, there are some major differences between them. The front end of an RGN trailer has a hydraulic-powered gooseneck. Simply detaching the gooseneck lowers the trailer which creates a ramp for heavy vehicles to be driven up. By having an RGN trailer on hand, the O’Hare towing team avoided the use of additional equipment.

The construction equipment towing team was able to easily load the dump truck onto the trailer. With everything secure, they began their 7 hour trip to Buffalo, NY. Thankfully, the trip itself was uneventful and the dump truck is now with its new owner!

Details of Construction Equipment Towing Team Hauls Dump Truck Over 500 Miles

The construction equipment towing team at O’Hare received a request for a long-haul tow. The customer requesting the tow was located in Gary, Indiana. O’Hare dispatched a construction equipment towing team from 2424 Wisconsin Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515, United States.

The construction equipment towing team made the 54 mile trip to Gary taking I-355 S and then I-80 N. Once at the customer’s location, the construction equipment towing team backed their RGN trailer to the back of the dump truck. The towing team detached the gooseneck which lowered the trailer.

With the trailer lowered to the ground, the team was able to reverse the dump truck onto the back of the trailer. With the dump truck in place, the construction equipment towing team secured it to the trailer and reattached the gooseneck.

The construction equipment towing team drove the dump truck to Buffalo, NY. The 503 mile trip began on the I-90 E. The majority of the trip was on the I-90 E as the team drove over 490 miles until exit 57. The towing team then followed NY-75 N and NY-5 E to Buffalo.

The towing team was able to complete the trip without any additional equipment as the RGN trailer allowed them to drive the dump truck onto the trailer.
