O’Hares heavy duty towing team responded to a call from the District 15 State Police. A pick-up truck was driving along the I-88 westbound near Oak Brooke when it rear-ended a semi tractor-trailer. The crash resulted in the entire front end of the pickup truck (up until the windshield) going underneath the semi trailer ! Incredibly, the driver of the pickup truck walked away from the accident with only minor bruising!
Both drivers knew that the best thing they could do was to move their vehicles to the shoulder of the road while they awaited assistance. The pickup truck was firmly wedged underneath the tractor-trailer so it would need to be dragged along with the semi to the shoulder of the road. With the driver safely out of the pickup, the semi truck driver slowly made his way to the shoulder of the road with both vehicles.
Having received a detailed briefing from the police department, O’Hare made sure to dispatch their rotator to the scene of the accident. The heavy duty towing team had to lift the tractor trailer off the ground in order to be able to winch out the pick-up truck! Thankfully, the rotator made easy work of lifting the fully loaded truck.
With the pickup out of the way, the team was able to get a better picture of the damage caused to the tri axle semi truck. With damage done to the back axle of the truck, the heavy duty towing team cribbed the two front axles in order to stablize the truck for towing.
Great work out there team! A special thank you to the Illinois Department of Transportation and the District 15 State Police for monitoring traffic and ensuring our team remained safe.
The heavy duty towing team at O’Hare received a call from District 15 State Police. The police had requested the heavy duty team after an accident involving a pickup truck and a fully-loaded semi tractor-trailer on I-88 W near Oak Brook. A heavy towing team was immediately dispatched from 2424 Wisconsin Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515.
Once on scene, the heavy duty towing team was able to assess the situation. The semi and the pickup were now on the shoulder of the road. With the heavy duty towing team’s rotator, they would only be blocking one lane and the Highland Avenue exit ramp. The heavy towing team used their rotator to lift the back of the semi truck. Once the trailer was slightly lifted, the heavy towing team was able to winch out the pickup truck.
The heavy towing team then focused their sights on the tractor trailer. They cribbed the two front axles of the trailer in order to stabilize it for transport. The heavy duty towing team then were able to tow the tractor trailer to the designated repair shop.
